Why Moms Love Starbucks

Starbucks….a worldwide staple.  A right of passage. Did you know that in the US there are more than 14,000 starbucks locations? That’s more Starbucks stores than there are Mcdonald’s. As I write this I am sipping on my ½ chai ½ pumpkin spice with almond milk in a festive holiday cup. It’s bliss. Now if you are a starbucks naysayer because you prefer your mom and pop coffee shop, I am with you. I LOVE a good mom and pop. But this post is about why Starbucks is a favorite of moms everywhere.

Convenience

As a mom of three who rarely gets time to myself, Starbucks is one thing that I can easily do for ME. Hot or cold, rain or shine, there is usually a conveniently located Starbucks open nearby--where I can grab a coffee, tea,  pastry, or even a healthy snack. It doesn’t require a babysitter, or a lot of money. Better yet, they have things for the kids too! So if the kids happen to be with me, I can still do something for myself, while keeping them happy too. Moms need these small treats to fuel us, literally and figuratively.

Reliability

Even on a road trip to the seemingly middle of nowhere, chances are you’ll find a Starbucks or two on your way. You can count on there being one in the airport, in your spouse’s hometown, even at Disneyland. The menu is usually pretty much the same, so your favorite drink can easily be in your hand in a reasonable amount of time. They are always there for us when we need them, with our favorite, familiar drink. Starbucks is open everyday. In every town. And when mom stress arises, this type of reliability is worth gold.

Drive Thru

Every single business that can feasibly make it possible to have a drive thru should do it. Right now. For moms, if no one else. Having to lug 3 children into a….well into anywhere really, should be some type of olympic sport. So the fact that so many Starbucks have drive-thrus is just the bees knees. Or a sleeping baby! We’ve all been there. Your baby finally falls asleep in his carseat and you now have to drive around for an hour so he can get his nap in (because he won’t transfer out of his carseat to his crib). Starbucks is there, drive thru ready, for you to take a mama breather and treat yourself. 

Tradition

Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Holiday cups. Starbucks has now become part of our holiday traditions. They give us things to look forward to and make the seasons a little brighter. Once the famous PSL is announced, we know that Fall is just around the corner. The same goes for those beautiful red cups.

Partners with Target

As if Target and Starbucks couldn’t get any more amazing for moms, they went and combined to make the perfect establishment under one roof. We can grab our drink from ‘bucks and then peruse the aisles, picking up any necessities along the way. Which for many of us (me included!) is a special kind of therapy. And convenience. 

Starbucks wasn’t necessarily made for moms. But it sure does offer us a whole lot of joy and convenience, giving us a small break from the stress of mom life. For that, we are eternally grateful.
