It was easy, though there were some bad reviews. I think it's because some people don't realize that the clay dries. We waited until our baby was milk drunk and sleepy to do the prints, which made the process much easier. When you first roll the clay, it's very soft, so keep that in mind.

My baby is three months old so getting his hand open to make a print was really challenging and we had to redo it several times, which I thought would ruin it, but we let it dry and it didn't come out too bad! there are still cracks in the handprint because we had to redo it, so try your hardest to get it right the first time! This is a nice kit for new parents to memorialize the baby's hand and foot prints with their photo.The frame itself is fairly sturdy for the price and does have a glass front.The clay is not super easy to roll out, especially since no rolling pin is included despite it being mentioned in the directions. The directions also say that the clay shouldn't completely fill the depressions, but I found that it did. The clay loses moisture quickly, so I found I had to work fast. If you want to use the included letters to make an impression of the baby's name, birthday, or other info, have the letters prepped before opening the clay. The clay does take four days to dry fully, however. It is only after that point that the clay can be painted.I like that multiple mats were included so the recipient can choose the phrase they like best, or turn the mat so that the plain side (which they can decorate) faces out.I had a few quibbles with this kit, but overall think it is a nice little craft project.

We finally made our baby's prints today and I was surprised by how moldeable the clay was. I had been warned by others that Kira sometimes come with stiff clay that makes it difficult to leave the imprints, but that was NOT the case. The trickiest part was the handprint because our little one loves to keep her first closed still. Apart from that it was so easy to set up and use. Now we're waiting the recommended 4 days before painting the imprints and putting the glass on. We also gifted this to my wife's cousin who just had a baby because we loved the idea so much!

This is a Very interesting experience, and it is mostly for us parents to enjoy the moment but there is a lot of prep that goes into this.The portrait comes with everything we needed to get the little feet and hand of our little girl memorialised.But I must say there is a LOT of prep and work that goes into getting this right.The clay is easy to place in the little pit, and the instructions were pretty straight forward.The letters take a little while to cup out of the initial format and it is a little effort to be able to make the writing work, it does take a little thinking to make sure the letters are placed correctly and not backwards. once that is done and the clay is placed, we had a little bit of time to make sure the baby was asleep to get her little feet on the clay.It did get her feet pretty dirty with the clay residue, so we had a wet cloth near by to clean her feet after placing in the clay, it does require a bit of prettying and our little girl woke up after a little while and she was pretty upset with the process so we could not do the hand the same day.we got her feet on and waited a couple of days to dry.Once that was done we were able to make sure she was asleep in deep sleep again and went for the hand, it was a bit of. challenge as every time we tried, it was hard to keep her hands open, as we did this when our baby was about 2 weeks old, and it took more than one try cause keeping her hands open would wake her up a couple of times, and one occasion when we had her hand on the clay she woke and closed he hand, she started to cry and we had to abort the mission! but in the end we did get it done.The clay also took a couple of days to dry and we decided not to paint inside it, even tough the kit comes with some paint just in case.It does look pretty cute and we are so haps that we got to do this with our baby!

Such a precious keepsake! The clay was a little hard to get crease free and it still isn't. However, I don't see any of the cracks and creases now that it's on the wall. I love it so much and it is one of my most prized possessions. It is a bit heavy to hang up but I used one nail for a heavier frame and then used a command strip for on the bottom since the bottom sticks out a bit when it's on the wall. I desperately don't want it to fall and break since my baby's little cute handprint/footprint is in it. It's stuck for two months now and it's been totally fine!! This is perfect gift. I wish I had done it in the hospital the very first day. It does take a long time to harden though!! About 4 days long.

Some weren't totally lined up how we wanted but it was easy to roll up the dough, then smooth it back into the square for a retake. We must have done this four times and the dough stayed soft and malleable. We kept forgetting to do this with our baby and time escaped us and she was a large 9 months old before we captured her impressions. She definitely was at the maximum age because her hands and feet just BARELY fit inside the designated frames. We decided not to use the type but the kit is really nice and includes a lot of duplicate letters for long names or sayings. Definitely recommend this kit. It looks really nice and it was much easier to use than I anticipated - I wish I had done it earlier!

This frame keepsake kit makes an adorable footprint and handprint picture once completed. It is a super giftable item and it's pretty easy to read and understand the instructions. For the best results when getting the foot and hand prints, I recommend having someone else to help you hold the baby or press the baby's foot or hand into the clay firmly, since it would be pretty tough to get the prints by yourself. The toughest part of the process is getting the clay smooth and getting a good impression on the clay since it is firm and not that soft, and it should be done quickly so that the clay doesn't have time to harden before taking the impression. The kit was missing the little smooth roller to smoothen out the clay in the frame, but we improvised and made it work. We took the prints when baby was 2 months of age, then allowed for the clay to dry for five days and painted it afterwards with the gold paint that was included in the kit. After, we chose an adorable picture of baby, taped it in the middle, and completed the kit with an amazing result. Follow the instructions well and you will get a good result. If we have another baby in the future, I will absolutely buy another one of these kits. Recommended!
