These jars are designed to be the perfect portions for your little one and great for preparation and storage as you start your eating journey together. With all the controversial research coming out about toxins in popular baby food brands, many parents are choosing to make their own food at home for their little ones. Preparing healthy, nutritious purées at home can be simple! With the right tools and some smart shopping, you can prepare a variety of wonderful first meals for your baby. The all-new KeaBabies Baby Food Storage Prep Jars are the perfect addition to your kitchen!
Your baby should rely solely on breast milk and formula for the first 4-6 months of life. Between 4 and 6 months, your child’s pediatrician will give you the green light to begin feeding your baby solid food. Whether you start with infant cereal, go straight to purée, or try baby-led weaning, preparing your child’s food can be a breeze as long as you plan carefully.
With the KeaBabies Prep Jars, your baby can enjoy delicious homemade purées and meals in perfectly portioned containers to make mealtime simple, safe, and fun. These jars come in sets of 12, with each jar able to hold up to 4oz. They are durable, made from high quality glass, and are safe to use in the microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher. Keeping them clean is as simple as rinsing and throwing in with your next load of dirty dishes!
We strive to create long lasting, high quality products for your little ones. These food prep jars are made from food-grade glass. They are lead-free, phthalate-free, and PVC-free. They are marked with measurements on the glass that won’t fade over time. They can be easily cleaned and sanitized in the dishwasher, so your little one won’t be exposed to any germs or bacteria. You can use a dry-erase marker to write the date on the top of each container so you’ll know how long your baby’s food is safe to eat - and then wash off after each use! These jars are airtight and leak proof, making them perfect for on-the-go feeding! Stick a jar of baby food in your diaper bag without worrying about leaks and spills.
To best use these food prep jars, start by preparing the food. You can use a steamer to soften hard foods, and then puree in a blender. Fill each jar to the 4oz line, and write the day’s date on the lid using a dry erase marker. To keep your baby’s food fresh, store in the refrigerator or freezer until you’re ready to use it. When it’s time to feed your baby, start by thawing the container for 5 minutes if it comes from the refrigerator, and 15 minutes if it comes from the freezer. This will prevent the glass from cracking when heated. Next, use a microwave or a dish of hot water to heat the food. You can then either feed your baby directly from the jar, or pour the food into a bowl for your baby to practice feeding himself. After the meal is over, rinse the jar and throw it in the dishwasher for easy cleaning!

When you prepare your baby food at home, purees can be safely stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and in the freezer for up to 3 months. If you’re making small portions of food, use the KeaBabies Prep Jars to store baby food in the freezer. If you’re cooking larger batches, use an ice cube tray to freeze and portion cubes of food. Simply pour your puree into an ice tray, let it freeze, and pop out the cubes of food to store in airtight freezer bags. When your baby is ready to eat, simply grab a cube or two and pop in the microwave! This method also makes it easy to combine foods as your baby gets older.
Here are some simple ideas for first foods for your little one:
-
Avocado puree: Avocados are full of healthy fats and puree easily and smoothly when ripe! Simply blend or mash an avocado with some water, and serve!
-
Chickpea puree: Beans are a healthy source of vitamins and protein for your baby. Drain and blend a can of chickpeas (no sodium) with some water for a smooth, savory meal.
-
Blueberry puree: Blueberries are delicious and create a wonderful color when blended! You can use fresh or frozen berries to create your puree. Mix with water until the right consistency is achieved.
-
Mango puree: Mangoes are soft and sweet, perfect for a beginning eater. Dice and blend with water to create a simple meal for your baby.
-
Banana puree: Bananas, especially overripe ones, are a wonderful first food. They are smooth and easy to blend, and you can mix them with a variety of other foods such as oatmeal or other fruit purees.
-
Sweet potato puree: Sweet potatoes are full of nutrients and tend to have a sweet, palatable flavor for beginning eaters. Peel and roast or steam some potatoes and then blend with water for an easy and healthy meal.
-
Butternut squash puree: Different varieties of squash are also perfect for beginning eaters. Butternut squash has a light flavor and blends easily when cooked. Roast or steam your squash, and blend with some water. You can even try blending different varieties of squash together or mixing in some sweet potato for added flavor!
Creating and storing your own purees also makes it easier to blend and mix foods as your baby matures. When your little one starts solids, try to introduce one food at a time for several days to watch for any signs of allergic reaction or intolerance. As your baby grows, you can begin mixing multiple flavors together (such as apple and carrot, sweet potato and peas, or banana and strawberry). You can also use purees to add flavor to plain oatmeal or yogurt. Creating your own meals at home is simple and rewarding, and the KeaBabies Prep Jars make it even easier to properly store your creations.
Your little one’s food journey is exciting and fun, and many parents look forward to exposing their babies to new tastes and textures! Save money and eat healthier by creating your own delicious baby food combinations at home utilizing the amazing new KeaBabies Prep Jars!
