#1 Customise your own Halloween Costume ๐
You donโt have to spend a bundle on Halloween to enjoy all the fun when you can make cheap Halloween props and costumes.
Allow your creativity to flow by combining recycled clothes and start sewing away! Do note that long costumes that drag on the ground can be dangerous, especially at night, so do make sure itโs an appropriate length, and hem anything thatโs too long to avoid tripping.

#2 Wear Comfortable Shoes ๐
Make sure you and your children are in comfortable, well-fitting shoes as there is going to be a lot of walking to do. You wonโt want a sore foot to ruin your night.
Girls in dresses should avoid heels, and all shoelaces should be double-tied to avoid tripping in the dark.
ย
#3 Stay Well-Lit all the time๐ก
No matter how cool your childโs costume may be, it shouldnโt forego safety. If the costume is dark in color, apply reflective tape to your childโs costume to ensure they are seen by drivers on the road. Also, carry a flashlight with you to keep your childโs path lit at all times.
You can also make lanterns out of small pumpkins to add on to your Halloween costume prop, How cool is that? ๐

#4 Avoid wearing masks, opt for face painting instead ๐จ๐๏ธ
Masks might look cool, but you should proceed with caution since they donโt really adhere to most Halloween safety tips. Many masks can make it difficult for your child to see or breathe. If possible, skip the mask altogether and use non-toxic make-up to complete the costume instead. Face Painting can be really fun and more realistic compared to the mask. Let that creativity in you and your child flow!
#5 Always check your childโs candy
ย

When sorting through candy at the end of the night, be sure to throw away any candy that is not in its original wrapper, or looks as though it has been opened. Your children will be really happy with all the candies they received, however not all candies are safe for consumption, so do run a quick check on all candies received before letting your child consume them.๐ฌ
